Last night of all places the David Letterman Show potential GOP Presidential nominee US Sen.John McCain (R-AZ) announced his bid for the 2008 Republican Presidential Nomination.
In 2000 when he last ran he was the darling candidate of the mainstream media calling him the "Maverick" up against the Compassionate Conservatism of then Texas Gov.George W.Bush.His campaign theme was the straight talk express then.He now offically faces the current field of contenders in former New York City Mayor Rudolph Guiliani and former Massachusetts Gov.Mitt Romney.
If this version of the Straight talk express has any chance of success in winning the GOP nod he needs to capitalize on his strengths such as National Security and needs to get away from a sore subject with both sides of the political asile that is the immigration debate.
As is with all the current candidates in the Republican field there isn't anyone of them that is a true conservative.
